Mathurin’s Heroics Lead Team Jalen to NBA Rising Stars Triumph

Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren did not face off in the NBA Rising Stars game as Mac McClung and G League Ignite members took the spotlight. Bennedict Mathurin emerged as the hometown hero leading Team Jalen to victory and earning MVP honors.

The new Rising Stars format saw teams playing semifinals to a target score of 40 with the final going to 25. Mathurin’s Team Jalen secured a 26-13 win in the final. Despite missing crucial free throws in the semifinal, Mathurin redeemed himself with a game winning shot.

Team Detlef led by G League Ignite’s Matas Buzelis won the other semifinal. Wembanyama will participate in the Skills Challenge on Saturday.
