Matt Wallace’s bid for a second PGA Tour title faded as he posted a level-par 71 placing him eight strokes behind the leader Jake Knapp before the final round of the Mexico Open at Vidanta. Wallace initially in a four-way tie for the lead at 11 under slipped to a tie for sixth place.
Jake Knapp surged ahead with an eight-under 63 totaling 19 under for the tournament four strokes ahead of his nearest rival Sami Valimaki. Wallace is joined at 11 under by Robert MacIntyre. None of the top five players heading into the final round have previously won on the PGA Tour.
