France striker Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris St-Germain (PSG) of his intention to leave the club at the end of the season. The 25 years old contract with PSG is set to expire and he has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid. Mbappe’s future was a subject of contention with PSG last summer leading to a temporary exile from the first-team squad.
Although the terms of his exit are yet to be confirmed, PSG aims to build a younger squad moving away from the ‘Galacticos’ strategy. Mbappe’s departure involving a sale or financial sacrifices is expected to conclude this summer. PSG is currently 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and advanced in the Champions League.
Mbappe with 243 goals and 93 assists in 290 games for PSG has been a crucial part of their success. Real Madrid is seen as the likely destination for Mbappe with negotiations ongoing. Guillem Balague a European football expert predicts that Mbappe will join Real Madrid although financial considerations may impact the deal.
