Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry clinched victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans after triumphing over Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in a play-off. Ramey and Trainer set a target of 25 under with a nine-under 63 but McIlroy and Lowry forced the play-off with a birdie on the final hole finishing at 25 under with a score of 68. The Irish duo secured victory by paring the first play-off hole as Trainer missed his par putt.
This marks McIlroy’s 25th PGA Tour title and Lowry third. Starting the final round two strokes behind, they rallied with four birdies in five holes to stay in contention. American pair Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard finished one shot behind while four players tied at 23 under.
