Medvedev Triumphs in Dubai Return, Eying Title Defense

Daniil Medvedev marked his return to action at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a victory defeating Alexander Shevchenko 6-3, 7-5. The World No. 4 returning from a planned break and overcoming a foot injury broke in three consecutive return games in the first set and rallied from 3-5 down in the second set.

Medvedev happy with his level of play post-injury converted five of nine break points. He advanced to the next round and is set to face Lorenzo Sonego or Sumit Nagal. In another match, Ugo Humbert avenged his previous loss to Gael Monfils winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and will face Andy Murray next.
