Mercedes might face challenges at the start of the 2024 F1 season due to limitations in developing certain areas of their W15 car. The team unveiled the W15, Lewis Hamilton’s final challenger with Mercedes revealing a new car concept with significant changes to the chassis and gearbox.
The comprehensive alterations have led to constraints in overall development as technical director James Allison explained that the financial focus on the new chassis and gearbox has limited progress in other parts of the car.
Despite these constraints, Allison expressed satisfaction with the team’s delivery on their targets acknowledging that the true competitiveness will be revealed only when the car hits the track. Mercedes went through the 2023 season without a victory prompting the team to adopt a new approach for the upcoming season.
