Lionel Messi played a crucial role in Inter Miami CF victory over Nashville SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 match contributing a goal and an assist before leaving the game due to a leg injury. Inter Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino stated that Messi is likely to miss the upcoming MLS match against D.C. United as a precautionary measure.

Martino emphasized the importance of not risking Messi’s health and confirmed a muscle overload in Messi’s right leg. Luis Suárez, Messi’s teammate expressed excitement about reuniting with Messi on the field and highlighted their successful partnership at Barcelona.

Despite Messi’s injury, Inter Miami advanced to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup with a 5-3 aggregate score and will await the winner between Monterrey and FC Cincinnati for their next matchup on April 2.
