Michael Edwards the former sporting director of Liverpool is poised to rejoin the club’s ownership group, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in a role overseeing football operations. Despite initially declining FSG offer, Edwards is anticipated to accept the position which includes the task of appointing a new sporting director for Liverpool.
The club has been without a sporting director since Jorg Schmadtke departure in January. Edwards instrumental in acquiring key players like Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah left Liverpool in the summer of 2022.
FSG persistence in pursuing his return highlights their recognition and appreciation of Edwards’ significant contributions. Following his departure, Edwards has been working as a consultant for Ludonautics a sports advisory business.
