Miedema Return Sparks Arsenal to Victory over Liverpool

Vivianne Miedema marked her return from a lengthy knee injury by scoring her first Women’s Super League goal as Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool. Miedema who was sidelined for 310 days with a ruptured ACL, netted the opener with a powerful 20-yard shot deflected in off Gemma Bonner. Caitlin Foord doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 69 minutes sealing the win.

The victory in Jonas Eidevall’s 100th game in charge moves Arsenal within three points of league leaders Chelsea. Despite a somewhat uneventful first half, Arsenal displayed patience and control dominating possession throughout the match. The result serves as revenge for Arsenal defeat to Liverpool on the opening day of the season.
