Former Chelsea player Jon Obi Mikel jokingly revealed that he is encouraging Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea playfully referring to himself as Osimhen’s agent. Osimhen reportedly signed a new contract with Napoli until 2026 including a release clause of £104-113 million. Mikel expressed genuine interest between Osimhen and Chelsea urging him to follow in the footsteps of Nigerian players who have represented the club.
Mikel humorously claimed to be Osimhen’s agent and is pushing for the move to Chelsea. The 25 years old striker is sought after by several top European clubs including PSG and Manchester United. Mikel emphasized Chelsea’s appeal citing London as a fantastic city.
Osimhen’s goal scoring prowess is seen as a solution to Chelsea’s scoring struggles. Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG is also interested in Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe. Osimhen has been prolific for Napoli scoring 72 goals in 122 appearances since joining in 2020.
Mikel believes Osimhen’s goal scoring ability could significantly benefit Chelsea addressing their need for a prolific striker.
