After a year of no competitive tennis, 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal has finally given his fans the much-anticipated news: he will be back again in 2024.
The 37-year-old’s last competitive match was a second-round exit to Mackenzie McDonald in the Australian Open 2023. I
mmediately after that, he announced a break from the tour to properly nurse his hip injury, which had been burdening him for a substantial amount of time.
Nadal said on his official X account that he will be seeing his fans in the first week of January in Brisbane, competing in the Brisbane International.
He won the same tournament twice before, in 2009 and 2022. This will most probably be the last campaign for Nadal as he stated his desire to retire at the end of 2024.
Other than the four Grand Slams, he also hopes to represent Spain in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
