Rafael Nadal has delayed his return to competitive tennis by withdrawing from the Qatar Open due to an ongoing hip injury. The 37 years old Spaniard who recently returned to the court at the Brisbane International after a nearly year long hiatus due to injury sustained a hip injury there forcing him to skip the Australian Open.
Nadal expressed his disappointment in missing the Doha tournament and stated he is not yet ready to compete. He aims to focus on preparing for an exhibition match in Las Vegas and the upcoming Indian Wells tournament. Nadal is uncertain about the number of tournaments he will participate in this year but targets events like Roland Garros and the Olympics.
Previously, he hinted that 2024 could mark the conclusion of his professional tennis career.
