Newcastle United Struggles in Transfer Market Amid Financial Fair Play Constraints

Newcastle is facing challenges in securing transfers for Dominic Solanke and Kalvin Phillips during the current transfer window due to Financial Fair Play constraints, leaving them with limited options. Despite being backed by the wealthy Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the club is unable to freely spend its resources. Eddie Howe, the manager, openly acknowledged the financial constraints, stating that the club has no funds, limited connections, and a bleak outlook for signing players this month.

Even attempts to acquire Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke have proven difficult, with loans being explored as an alternative, although the club is facing reluctance from potential partners. Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City is a primary target, but the high loan fee demanded by the Treble winners, exceeding £7 million, has made Newcastle hesitant to proceed with the deal.
