Toto Wolff acknowledged the correct decision to award Lando Norris pole position for the Sprint Race in Shanghai, despite initially having his lap time deleted for exceeding track limits. Norris’ time was reinstated as he hit gravel slowing him down. Wolff accepted the decision, acknowledging it hindered Lewis Hamilton’s chance at pole.

He emphasized the importance of tire preparation in the wet conditions. Norris expressed his happiness with the pole position while McLaren led the British charge in the race. The session was preceded by a trackside fire and Christian Horner stated that Red Bull won’t rush into finding a teammate for Max Verstappen next year.
