In the Vitality County Championship Division Two match at Headingley, Glamorgan’s marathon innings led by captain Sam Northeast, thwarted Yorkshire victory hopes on the final day, aided by inclement weather. Northeast unbeaten 142 supported by Colin Ingram’s 113 guided Glamorgan to 372-7 when play was interrupted due to lightning.
Despite the efforts of Yorkshire spinners who claimed crucial wickets, Northeast resilient innings, spanning over six and a half hours denied them a chance to secure a win. Glamorgan batting dominance continued on the final morning with Ingram aggressive approach pushing them into the lead before lunch. However, Yorkshire bowlers led by Joe Root and Adam Lyth managed to keep the pressure on with Root claiming two wickets.
With the match finely poised, lightning forced an early end to play, resulting in a draw between the two teams. Glamorgan captain Northeast acknowledged the tough battle against Yorkshire while Yorkshire coach Ottis Gibson praised his team’s effort despite the frustrating outcome.
