Norwich City secured a crucial victory over 10 man Coventry City at Carrow Road bolstering their bid for the Championship play-offs. After Callum O’Hare gave Coventry the lead early in the second half, Josh Sargent equalized for Norwich before Coventry’s Liam Kitching was sent off. Borja Sainz then scored the winner for Norwich beautifully curling his shot into the net after exchanging passes with Ashley Barnes.
The victory lifted Norwich to eighth in the table just a point shy of the play-off spots while Coventry dropped out of the top six. Despite a spirited effort from Coventry including a brilliant save from Norwich keeper Angus Gunn, David Wagner’s side secured the win and extended their unbeaten run at home to seven matches.
Wagner praised his team’s performance particularly their energy and bravery in the first half. Coventry manager Mark Robins expressed frustration over the result feeling aggrieved by the sending off and believing his team deserved more from the game.
