Nottingham Forest and Coach Steven Reid Face FA Charges Over Referee Confrontation

Nottingham Forest and first-team coach Steven Reid are facing misconduct charges from the Football Association following their confrontation with referee Paul Tierney after the team’s defeat by Liverpool. Reid received a red card for protesting on the pitch at full-time which came after Darwin Nunez’s 99th minutes winning goal for Liverpool.

Forest is charged with failing to ensure proper behavior from their players and technical staff. Both Reid and the club have until March 13 to respond to the charges. The incident stemmed from Tierney’s decision to hand possession back to Liverpool via a drop-ball after a head injury stoppage which Forest disputed.

The FA alleges that Reid used abusive language toward match officials and acted improperly. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis approached Tierney after the match but reports of him being restrained were dismissed by the club.
