Former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg has been appointed as a referee analyst at Nottingham Forest a role described as the first of its kind at a Premier League club.
Clattenburg will act as a refereeing consultant offering advice to the Forest board and serving as a liaison between the club and the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL).
The appointment has drawn criticism with Gary Neville expressing disappointment calling it a “step too far.” Clattenburg defended the role highlighting similarities to ex-referees employed by Sky Sports to explain the laws of the game.
