Nottingham Forest has secured a loan deal for 21 years old United States midfielder Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. Reyna who gained recognition as a teenage sensation at Dortmund, has 24 international caps.
Despite starting only once in the Bundesliga this season he recently extended his contract with Dortmund until June 2026. The loan agreement with Forest does not include an option to make the deal permanent.
Reyna the son of former US midfielder Claudio was born in Sunderland during his father’s playing stint there from 2001 to 2003. He was part of the US World Cup squad in 2022 but did not play due to a dispute with coach Gregg Berhalter.
