Nottingham Forest has secured the loan signing of United States midfielder Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. Reyna who has 24 international caps gained prominence at Dortmund as a teenage sensation making his Bundesliga debut at just 17 years old.
Despite being 21 now he has seen limited playing time this season, starting only once in the league. Dortmund announced Reyna’s extension until June 2026 alongside the loan deal. However, Forest does not have the option to make the loan permanent.
Reyna the son of former US midfielder Claudio Reyna was born in Sunderland during his father’s playing stint there. He was part of the US World Cup squad in 2022 but didn’t play due to a dispute between his family and coach Gregg Berhalter.
