Nuggets Extend Winning Streak Against Lakers with Playoff Victory
The Denver Nuggets last year NBA champions overcame a slow start to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 114-103 in the opening game of the Western Conference playoffs. Led by Nikola Jokic 32 points and 12 rebounds the Nuggets extended their winning streak against the Lakers to nine games. Despite LeBron James’ strong first-half performance, the Nuggets tightened their defense in the second half limiting him to just nine points.
Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon also recorded double-doubles for the Nuggets. Lakers coach Darvin Ham acknowledged Denver strength at home but remained optimistic about the series. The Lakers will look to bounce back in Game 2, desperate for a win to avoid falling further behind. Meanwhile, the Nuggets remain confident with Jokic emphasizing the importance of matching the Lakers’ physicality.
Michael Porter Jr. played despite personal challenges, contributing to the team’s victory. The Nuggets’ dominance on the offensive boards and their low turnover rate were key factors in their win. Despite the loss, LeBron James remained focused on the upcoming games emphasizing the need for execution and minimizing mistakes.
