Mercedes Formula 1 team boss Toto Wolff has revealed discussions about Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer, Peter Bonnington potentially moving to Ferrari following Hamilton’s announcement of joining Ferrari for the 2025 season. It’s common for top drivers to bring trusted staff with them when changing teams.
Wolff mentioned the importance of this discussion although it’s uncertain if Bonnington is willing to relocate to Italy. The timing presents a challenge as Bonnington would need to finish the current season with Mercedes before joining Ferrari in 2025.
Hamilton has a close relationship with Bonnington, who has been with Mercedes since the Honda era. Bonnington’s potential move would require Ferrari to reshuffle staff, possibly affecting Riccardo Adami, currently working with Carlos Sainz.
