Premier League Clubs Face Regulator Intervention if EFL Funding Deal Isn't Reached

Premier League clubs have been cautioned that if they fail to reach a funding agreement with the English Football League (EFL) the new Football Regulator will impose it. Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer emphasized the regulator’s role in ensuring financial stability across football and urged the leagues to resolve the funding issues themselves.

While Premier League clubs met to discuss the matter it remains uncertain if a vote on EFL funding will take place at their next meeting on March 11. The overall funding expected to be around £900m over six years has faced disagreements over distribution among top-flight clubs.

Frazer clarified that the regulator will have limited powers focused on financial stability not ownership structures or foreign investment in clubs.
