Pulisic Clinches 2023 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year for Record Fourth Time
AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic secured the 2023 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year title, marking his fourth win and equaling Landon Donovan’s record, according to the national governing body’s announcement on Thursday. The 25-year-old, a key figure in the U.S. team’s victory in the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League where he earned Best Player honors, has been delivering outstanding performances since joining Serie A side AC Milan in July.
Pulisic, who initially claimed the award in 2017, expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s an honor to win this award again for the fourth time. It was an incredible season for me. I always enjoy playing with the National Team and winning more trophies with them. Of course, coming here to AC Milan, it’s been just a really exciting year.”
Noteworthy for scoring six goals in 18 league games for Milan this season, Pulisic also contributed to their Champions League triumph over Newcastle United. This comes after a challenging last season with Chelsea, where he struggled, managing only one goal and making eight league starts. Pulisic’s teammate at Milan, Yunus Musah, secured the second spot in the vote with 21.5%, while Pulisic received the majority of votes at 53%.
