Qinwen Zheng admitted to overthinking during her quarter-final match against Anna Kalinskaya which led to her losing the first set. However, she managed to regroup and secure victory, ensuring her debut in the Top 10 of the WTA rankings after the Australian Open. This achievement makes her the second Chinese woman after Li to enter the elite bracket. Zheng 21, had been recognized as the Most Improved Player of the Year for winning two WTA Tour championships in 2023. In the semifinals she will face Dayana Yastremska, also a debutant Grand Slam semi-finalist. Despite a challenging start against Kalinskaya, Zheng improved her serve and return game to ultimately clinch the win. She attributed her turnaround to focusing less on overthinking and staying mentally present during the match.
