Rain Can't Dampen Ireland's Victory: Gaby Lewis Leads 10-Wicket Triumph Over Zimbabwe

Gaby Lewis’ unbeaten 65 played a crucial role as Ireland secured a 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the rain-affected opening game of their one-day international series in Harare. Zimbabwe, batting first, were restricted to 170 all out in 42.5 overs, with Ashley Ndiraya top-scoring with 47. Ireland’s bowlers, led by Freya Sargent’s career-best figures of 3-29, delivered an impressive performance. Rain adjusted Ireland’s target to 109 in 21 overs through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. 

In the chase, Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter guided Ireland to victory in just 13.1 overs, with Lewis scoring an unbeaten 65 and Hunter contributing an unbeaten 36. The teams will meet again on Sunday and Tuesday for the remaining matches in the series, followed by a five-match Twenty20 series starting on January 26th.
