Real Madrid leads the latest Deloitte Football Money League with Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City slipping down the rankings. Liverpool dropped from third to seventh place with revenue slightly decreasing. Manchester United fell to fifth place despite an improved revenue figure. Manchester City, despite record Premier League revenue, sits second after being overtaken by Real Madrid. The Money League is based on revenue reported in clubs’ annual accounts for the 2022-23 season.

Tottenham rose to eighth place while Chelsea and Arsenal maintained their positions. Paris Saint-Germain entered the top three for the first time and Barcelona climbed to seventh.  Deloitte reported that the top 20 clubs collectively earned £9 billion, a 14% increase from the previous season. In women’s football, Barcelona Femeni was the top-earning club, followed by Manchester United Women and Real Madrid.

Deloitte’s Tim Bridge suggested that upgrading Old Trafford could lead to significant revenue growth for Manchester United, despite their on-field struggles. Ineos plans to invest £235 million in club infrastructure after acquiring a 25% stake in United. Supporters have raised concerns about the stadium’s conditions, including roof leaks.
