Real Madrid secured a place in the Champions League quarter-finals by defeating RB Leipzig 2-1 on aggregate. Vinicius Junior’s 65th minutes goal following Jude Bellingham’s pass extended Real’s lead. Leipzig’s Willi Orban pulled one back three minutes later raising hopes of a comeback. However, Real held on to reach the quarter-finals for the 12th time in 14 seasons.
The draw for the last eight will take place on March 15. Real’s performance was criticized with manager Carlo Ancelotti acknowledging room for improvement. Leipzig had several chances but lacked the finishing touch failing to progress past the last 16 for the fourth consecutive season.
