Research published by the Women’s Sport Trust reveals that a record 46.7 million viewers in Britain watched women’s sports on TV in 2023 surpassing the 2019 mark by nearly a million. The FIFA Women’s World Cup final where England lost to Spain was the most watched women’s sports event with 38.4 million viewing hours.

Average viewing time increased by 16% reaching 10 hours and seven minutes per person. While pay TV showcased the Solheim Cup as the most watched event digital platform BBC iPlayer saw 25.7 million streams for the Women’s World Cup. Football remained the most watched sport followed by cricket, rugby union and golf.

Social media platform TikTok played a significant role in boosting Women’s Super League video views by 268%. The piece provides a glimpse into women’s sports events lined up for 2024 featuring the Women’s Super League, Solheim Cup, women’s golf majors, T20 World Cup and WTA Tour events. These competitions will be televised on Sky Sports.
