Bolton Wanderers’ captain, Ricardo Santos has successfully appealed against the red card he received in the defeat to Blackpool on Saturday resulting in the overturning of his two games ban. Santos was initially sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity but is now eligible to play in the upcoming derby against Wigan on Tuesday. Bolton manager Ian Evatt had expressed a strong intention to appeal the decision.
This was Santos’ second red card of the season but the Football Association acknowledged that he had made a genuine attempt to play the ball. Bolton competing for promotion in League One currently hold the third position in the table narrowly outside the automatic promotion spots on goal difference.
