Roberto Firmino Breaks Goal Silence for Al-Ahli, but Team Suffers Defeat to Al Akhdoud

Roberto Firmino the former Liverpool forward ended his goal drought for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League after going 18 matches without scoring. Firmino who had a debut hat-trick earlier in the season scored from the penalty spot to equalize just before half-time in a match against Al Akhdoud.

Despite his goal, Al-Ahli lost to Akhdoud ending their eight games unbeaten run since October. Firmino’s team is currently in the third position trailing 16 points behind Al-Hilal. Since moving to Saudi Arabia, Firmino has faced challenges in front of goal and his return from a midseason break marked his first goal since August.

Despite rumors of a possible departure during the winter transfer period Firmino remains committed to Al-Ahli. The Brazilian striker had a tough period losing his father in November due to a heart attack in Dubai.
