Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers expressed dissatisfaction with Jurgen Klopp’s decision on Sunday when Owen Beck was fielded against Bournemouth. Rodgers now at Celtic had been actively pursuing Beck for a January transfer. However, Beck’s appearance for Liverpool makes him ineligible for a move to Celtic due to already playing for Dundee. This news surprised Rodgers during a press interaction, leading to an “unconvincing smile.”
The frustration stems from Beck who had been of interest to Celtic, becoming unavailable until the summer. Although Rodgers might have preferred Beck to play a more significant role for Liverpool, the seven-minute cameo has potentially disrupted Celtic’s transfer plans. Despite this, Liverpool has the right to make decisions about their player and Beck might remain at Liverpool or return to Dundee. Either way, Rodgers will have to accept the situation.
