Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja rescued India after a shaky start on day one of the third Test against England in Rajkot. Mark Wood back in the side struck early to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill while Tom Hartley took the wicket of Rajat Patidar.
Despite the early setbacks, Rohit Sharma’s century (131) and Jadeja’s unbeaten 110 led India to a solid total of 326-5. England’s Wood finished with 3-69 including a crucial wicket after the break. Debutant Sarfaraz Khan contributed with a quick 62 but was run out by Wood.
England assistant coach Paul Collingwood praised India’s fightback and highlighted Wood’s impactful performance on the day.
