Ronnie O'Sullivan Withdraws from Welsh Open for Mental Health Reasons

Ronnie O’Sullivan, the world number one in snooker, has made the decision to withdraw from the upcoming Welsh Open in Llandudno to prioritize his mental health.

Citing “stage fright” as the reason, the seven-time world champion expressed his ongoing struggle with anxiety, which has led to his withdrawal from both the German Masters and now the Welsh Open.

O’Sullivan, 48, stated that despite his efforts to manage his anxiety, it remains unpredictable and uncontrollable. He apologized to fans who purchased tickets but emphasized that he cannot perform at his best under these circumstances.

Instead of competing, O’Sullivan will be working as a TV pundit at Venue Cymru during the tournament. Liam Graham of Scotland will now face Welsh player Dominic Dale in the first round on Monday, 12 February.
