Roque’s Debut Goal Lifts Barcelona in Xavi’s Farewell Season

Vitor Roque scored his first goal for Barcelona in their recent match which was the team’s first since manager Xavi announced he would be leaving at the end of the season. Roque who came on as a substitute just a minute before headed in a cross from Joao Cancelo in the 63rd minute.

The goal was followed by Osasuna defender Unai Garcia receiving a red card for fouling Roque. Barcelona, currently in third place moved up with the win eight points behind La Liga leaders Girona. The victory was crucial for Xavi, the coach who had announced his departure plans after a recent defeat.

Despite an early injury to forward Ferran Torres, Barcelona dominated the match securing the win even after Unai Garcia’s dismissal. Osasuna had chances to equalize but Barca’s goalkeeper, Inaki Pena made key saves.
