Rory McIlroy has expanded his 2024 PGA Tour schedule by committing to compete in the Zurich Classic for the first time alongside Shane Lowry. The duo, who previously played together as Team Ireland at the 2021 Olympics will partner up at TPC Louisiana starting April 25. McIlroy’s decision adds another event to his already busy schedule as he aims for his first major title in a decade, beginning with next month’s Masters.
With an increased workload compared to previous seasons, McIlroy emphasizes the importance of arriving at Augusta in good form. The Zurich Classic will serve as preparation for the PGA Championship just three weeks later, where McIlroy seeks to end his major drought, his last victory being at Valhalla almost ten years ago. Despite the wait for another major win, McIlroy remains focused on his overall successes and looks ahead with positivity.
