Rotherham United Recruits Steve Evans as Manager to Revive Promotion Ambitions
Rotherham United has rehired Stevenage manager Steve Evans to replace Leam Richardson who was sacked following the team’s relegation to League One. Evans previously led Rotherham to promotion from League Two to the Championship during his initial tenure from 2012 to 2015. The decision to appoint Evans was made after extensive discussions at the board level.
He and his assistant, Paul Raynor have signed three years contract. Richardson departure was deemed necessary to revitalize the club’s prospects of returning to the Championship swiftly. Evans returns to Rotherham after a successful spell at Stevenage where he secured promotion to League One. The decision comes after Richardson tenure saw the team struggle culminating in relegation.
Evans is expected to inject new energy into the club and aim for promotion next season building on his past successes with Rotherham.
