Rugby Star Danny Cipriani Hangs Up Boots at 36

Former England fly-half Danny Cipriani has announced his retirement from professional rugby at the age of 36. Cipriani who last played in 2022, described the decision as both sobering and liberating. Despite being semi-retired, he left the possibility of returning open until recently.

Throughout his career, Cipriani played for various clubs including Wasps, Melbourne Rebels, Sale Sharks, Gloucester and Bath. He won 16 caps for England and was named Player of the Year by the Rugby Players Association in 2019.

Despite his success, Cipriani’s career was marked by controversy, including off-field incidents and struggles with mental health. He expressed gratitude to coaches, staff, supporters and teammates, reflecting on the lessons learned throughout his career.

Cipriani expressed excitement for the future as he officially transitions into retirement.
