Aryna Sabalenka has expressed remorse for winning the Australian Open final against Chinese player Zheng Qinwen. In a video posted on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Sabalenka apologized to Chinese fans acknowledging their support for Zheng. She thanked them for their backing expressed her love for playing in China and hinted at a possible return later in the year.
Despite her victory, Sabalenka felt she didn’t perform at her best and dedicated the win to her family especially her late father with whom she shared the dream of winning Grand Slams before the age of 25. Last year, Sabalenka fulfilled part of that dream by winning her first Australian Open title. The emotional journey and memories with her father were captured in the Netflix series “Break Point.”
