Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty Begin All England Open Campaign with Victory

Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty began their All England Open 2024 campaign with a victory in the opening round aiming to become the first Indian doubles pair to claim the title. Following their triumph at the French Open 2024, Satwik and Chirag defeated the Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan with a score of 21-18, 21-14.

As the world’s number one pair, they are set to face Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana in the second round. Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen secured a win against Magnus Johannesen and will confront Anders Antonsen next. However, Priyanshu Rajawat faced defeat against Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.

In the women’s doubles category, Tanisha Castro and Ashwini Ponnappa emerged victorious and will compete against China’s Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu in the pre-quarterfinals. Nevertheless, Rutaparna and Swetaparna Panda exited the tournament after losing to Japan’s Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi.
