Bastian Schweinsteiger the former Manchester United midfielder revealed that manager Jose Mourinho banned him from first-team training during his tenure at the club. Despite a successful spell under Louis van Gaal, Schweinsteiger time under Mourinho was limited to just four appearances before he moved to MLS side Chicago Fire in 2017. Schweinsteiger expressed his sadness at the situation, emphasizing his focus on football rather than seeking media attention.
Mourinho arrival as manager coincided with Schweinsteiger injury and treatment ahead of Euro 2016 which led to a strained relationship between them. Schweinsteiger recounted being asked to train with the under-16 team and receiving his first apology from Mourinho when he decided to leave for America. He retired in 2019 after his stint with Chicago.
