Doug Watson who served as interim coach last summer has been appointed as the head coach of the Scotland men’s cricket team. Watson took charge during Scotland successful ICC World Cup qualifier securing victories against Ireland, the UAE, Oman, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Under his coaching, Scotland also won the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier earning a spot in the T20 World Cup this summer.
Watson currently Auckland Aces’ coach will assume the role in April leading Scotland in the T20 World Cup challenging group stage against England, Australia, Oman and Namibia. Watson coaching experience includes roles with Mumbai Indians and Wellington among others.
Cricket Scotland head of performance, Steve Snell praised Watson’s enthusiasm, passion and interest in improving Scottish cricket highlighting his cultural fit and coaching expertise.
