Sekou Mara’s brace led Southampton to a comfortable victory over Watford in the FA Cup replay setting up a clash against Liverpool at Anfield. The French striker scored twice in five minutes during the second half with Che Adams adding a third. Both managers made seven changes with Championship promotion as their priority.

Southampton’s unbeaten run now at 24 matches in all competitions has elevated them to second place in the Championship and secured a spot in the FA Cup’s last 16. Despite a draw in their three previous meetings, Mara’s goals ensured Southampton’s progression.

Adams also found the net sealing the win. Southampton manager Russell Martin praised the team’s second-half performance emphasizing the upcoming challenge at Anfield. Watford manager Valerien Ismael acknowledged fatigue in the second half and attributed mistakes to tiredness.
