Mark Selby delivered an outstanding performance defeating Ronnie O’Sullivan 6-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the Players Championship in Telford. Selby’s impressive breaks including 105 dominated the match. O’Sullivan, seeking his 17th consecutive match victory and a fourth consecutive title couldn’t match Selby’s tactical play and heavy scoring.
Selby will face John Higgins or Zhang Anda in the semi-finals. In another quarter-final, Mark Allen celebrated his 38th birthday with a 6-4 victory over Gary Wilson setting up a semi-final against Ali Carter. Allen’s solid performance included breaks of 84, 63 and 75. Despite some setbacks, he secured the win with a composed 69 break in the final frame.
