Porto manager Sergio Conceicao accused Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta of insulting his family during their Champions League last 16 match which Arsenal won on penalties. Conceicao claimed that Arteta made the remarks in Spanish towards the Porto bench. However, Arsenal sources denied these allegations.
After the game, the managers engaged in a heated discussion on the pitch. Conceicao criticized the result stating that his team deserved to advance. Arteta declined to comment on the confrontation. David Raya’s crucial saves in the penalty shootout secured Arsenal’s spot in the quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years.
The draw for the next round will take place on Friday. This isn’t the first time Conceicao has accused a manager of misconduct as he previously criticized Pep Guardiola during a Champions League match in 2020.
