Sheffield axed Heckingbottom with former manager Wilder set to return
Sheffield United’s poor start in the Premier League has led to the sacking of manager Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades find themselves at the bottom of the standings, with just 5 points from 14 matches.
The club’s board had initially supported Heckingbottom, but the final blow came with a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Burnley, another newly promoted team.
In a bid to turn their fortunes around, Sheffield United has decided to bring back former manager Chris Wilder as Heckingbottom’s replacement.
However, Wilder will have a challenging start, with his first three matches including tough fixtures against Liverpool and Brentford at home, followed by a clash against Chelsea in London.
The club will be hoping that Wilder’s return can inject some much-needed positivity and revive their campaign.
