Shereen Samson Vallabouy Eyes Paris Olympics Qualification Amidst Record-Setting Performances
Shereen Samson Vallabouy is poised to qualify for the Paris Olympics based on her consistent performances in the United States. With 11 victories in races including eight in the 400m and three in the 200m she has set three national records since last year. Despite this, Shereen faces the challenge of achieving the qualifying mark of 50.95 seconds in her primary event the 400m.
Under the guidance of coach Derrick White in Florida, she will make her first attempt at qualification at the Florida Relays on March 30. Shereen expressed confidence after winning the 200m event at a recent meet aiming to secure her spot in the Paris Games. Meanwhile, sprinter Azeem Fahmi showed promising results at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta despite recovering from a calf muscle strain.
Malaysian Athletics Federation technical director John Ballard praised Azeem performance and highlighted his focus on strength improvement to meet the qualification standard of 10.00 seconds for the Paris Games.
