England spinner Shoaib Bashir has been granted a visa and is set to join the team in India after facing initial complications that required him to return home. The 20-year-old, a British Muslim of Pakistani heritage was the sole member of the touring party to experience delays in visa processing keeping him in Abu Dhabi. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) sought assistance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and arranged for Bashir to return to London for the necessary approvals.

The ECB expressed relief that the matter has been resolved but Bashir’s debut in the first Test has been ruled out due to the setback. England captain Ben Stokes expressed frustration at the visa issues, emphasizing the disappointment for the young player’s first experience with the England Test team. Bashir’s situation echoes challenges faced by other cricketers of Pakistani descent in obtaining visas for India in the past.
