Sociedad secure top spot with San Siro draw
The majority of bets were placed on Inter Milan to secure the top spot in Group D, but Real Sociedad successfully held them to a goalless draw on their home ground. As a result, Basque ends their group campaign as leaders for the first time in their history.
In a cagey first half, the visitors controlled a greater percentage of possession, leaving fans inside the stadium uneasy despite a few attempts from their forward line. Inter, resting many of their first XI players, occasionally posed threats through a counter-attacking approach mainly led by captain Lautaro Martinez.
In another match, Benfica confirmed third place after beating RB Salzburg, securing advancement to the Europa League on goal difference.
Inter will face another tough task this weekend in Serie A with a trip to Rome, where they will face SS Lazio on Sunday.
