South Africa Advances to AFCON Quarter-Finals After Victory Over Morocco

Achraf Hakimi missed penalty proved costly as South Africa stunned 10-man Morocco to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Evidence Makgopa goal secured the victory for South Africa despite Morocco numerous missed opportunities and Hakimi late chance to equalize. Sofyan Amrabat dismissal added to Morocco woes while Teboho Mokoena free-kick sealed the upset.

Morocco wastefulness in front of goal left them rueing missed chances as injuries depleted their attacking options. South Africa now prepares to face Cape Verde in the quarter-finals aiming to continue their impressive tournament run under manager Hugo Broos.
